We are pleased to report that we have been successful in appealing our Fulton County and City of Atlanta property assessment and tax. Property taxes are one of the largest expenses in our annual budget, and this is burdensome for a non-profit organization such as Zach. Having a reduced tax bill will let us provide more resources for chapter development, facilities upkeep and upgrades, and alumni programming.

Many will remember in the 1990s that Zach was the lead house corporation in a lawsuit against Atlanta and Fulton County seeking to end property taxes on Georgia Tech fraternity and sorority houses based on precedent at other universities. Unfortunately, this effort was eventually unsuccessful after reaching the state Supreme Court. Our taxes have increased significantly since then. We will continue to be vigilant in keeping our tax bill in line with what it should be.
