“I Wanted the Chance to Create a Fraternity from the Beginning of Coming Back onto Campus”

Zeta Beta Tau President Richard Threlkeld '10 originally did not want to go Greek, but decided to rush because of the “rich Greek atmosphere” at Georgia Tech.

What is your major?
I am a chemical engineering major.

Where are you from?
I am from Adairsville, GA

Why did you choose to go to Georgia Tech?
I chose Georgia Tech because it is the best engineering school in the Southeast.

Why did you join the Greek system?
I originally did not want to be Greek, but decided to rush because of the rich Greek atmosphere.

Why did you choose ZBT?
I chose ZBT because I wanted the chance to create a fraternity from the beginning of coming back onto campus.

What is your favorite memory from the fraternity?
My favorite memory from the fraternity would be Homecoming 2007 when all of the alumni came to the house and shared in the greatness of what ZBT really is.

How did you become President of ZBT? What are your responsibilities?
I was elected president in the end of fall 2007. Any business of the fraternity is part of my job.

Have you held any other positions in the fraternity?
I held vice president and secretary before I was president.

What else are you involved in (extracurricular activities, employment etc.)?
I am involved in Team Buzz, which is the official philanthropy of Georgia Tech. Team Buzz goes around Atlanta to plant trees, feed the hungry, cleanup parks and other various deeds. I also captain a team for Relay for Life. Relay for Life is an annual walk to raise money for cancer research. I also work 20 hours a week for Industrial and Systems Engineering as a Student Assistant.

What do you want to do after graduation?
I plan on going into a master’s program in chemical engineering.
