Amid Campus Closure, Great News for ZBT

With the Georgia Tech campus shut down and classes going online for the remainder of the semester, we are happy to share some good news. The Zeta Beta Tau Xi Chapter is proud to announce that the Board continues to be financially stable, with good reserves. We are actively working with the Chapter and Actives to improve their recruitment efforts and the overall undergraduate experience for the future when everything goes back to business as usual.

A big part of the undergraduate experience, as you well know, is philanthropy and service, and we’re proud to report that the Brothers have been just as active as ever in these types of endeavors, always looking for new opportunities, projects and organizations to partner with. Nationally, ZBT partners with Children’s Miracle Network to raise money for their work, and Xi Chapter participates in that effort, but we’d also like to better empower the active Brothers to partner with local organizations in which Alumni are directly involved.

No matter where you are in your life, what you are doing or who you are with, one thing remains constant day-in and day-out; We all have to eat. Food and drink are essential human needs for every living person from every walk of life. Therefore, some of our best memories, most meaningful conversations and most important moments of our lives and friendships with ZBT Brothers happened over dinner or drinks, sitting down face-to-face at one or our favorite spots in Atlanta.

Restaurants and bars in college towns can act as refuges for students weary from academia, friends looking to blow off steam and groups of people meeting to discuss common goals. There is something about sharing food and drink during these life moments, in a familiar and welcoming atmosphere that make these moments all-the-more memorable and important.

Coming up next month, we will be raising money for ZBT's main philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network. CMN provides funding to children's hospitals across the country to help sick and injured kids. We kick things off on March 2 with "Get on the Ball." This is our premier fundraiser where we roll a 6' beach ball around campus, asking people to sign it. This provides advertising for our fundraising efforts. Along with rolling the ball around campus, ZBT will also participate in Georgia Tech’s Philanthropy Showcase on March 5th. All student organizations are welcome at this event on Skiles walkway. They can present their philanthropy to students passing by and hopefully raise interest in philanthropy on campus.
